Spring Break Staycation

The past few years we have spent our Spring Break traveling to Birmingham.  Well, this year we live here now so there was no long drive involved.  We still spent the week doing fun things each day.  Josh actually had to work most of the week but the kids and I tagged along to some of the fun events he had planned for the students.

We started the week with haircuts. Isabel was finally willing to cut a little of her hair off. She was happy with it afterwards.

On Monday we went to see the movie, Home.  Both kids loved it and Josh and I thought it was pretty cute too.
Will thought he was pretty cool in the 3D glasses

On Tuesday we went with some of the students bowling.  It was a lot of fun.  At one point about 3/4 of the way through the first game. Isabel was beating Josh and most of the students.  She ended up 4th over all.  Now, she may have had the advantage of bumpers that the others didn't but she doesn't like to bring that up!

On Wednesday two of my best friends from college came over with their kids.  It was perfect weather so they were able to play outside for a long time.  It was nice to get to have a real conversation with my friends as we watched the 7 kids play well together.  Unfortunately I didn't take a single picture.  Oh well.

On Thursday the kids and I met Grams at the mall to find some new spring and summer clothes (since they just keep growing out of everything) and an Easter dress for Isabel.  It is always a challenge to find a dress that still looks appropriate for an 8 year old.  I miss the days of cute toddler clothes.  Afterwards Isabel and Will went home with Grams and got to spend the night.  They loved it and Josh and I enjoyed a dinner out without kids and sleeping late the next morning.

On Friday Josh and I picked the kids up from Grams' house and we went to the zoo.  Again the weather was great and we had a lot of fun.

After the zoo the kids played outside for hours. Our new deck furniture came so we were able to have our first dinner out on the deck. I think that will be a regular occurance over the next few months!

I loved our week and we are all sad that school starts Monday.  Now the countdown for summer starts!
