Fall Fun Fest

Last Saturday the kids' school had their Fall Fun Fest.  Isabel and Will had been counting down the days until this event for weeks!!  Isabel was mainly excited about the fact that her cheer leading squad was going to get to perform.  Will saw a picture of a dunking booth on the advertisement a month in advance and thought it was the greatest thing ever. He talked about it constantly and could not wait to try it out.  Have I told you lately how completely opposite my children are most of the time?

We couldn't have asked for better weather for the festival.  It was the perfect day with SO MANY things for the kids to play, make and enjoy...

Unfortunately my camera decided to stop working right as Isabel and her team did their cheers.  I was so sad but she did an amazing job!!

Isabel and her sweet friend, Katie, who is also in her class at school.
I was so thankful as I watched both Isabel and Will run around and play with their school friends. It seemed like there was always some kid running up to them calling their name. They have both handled the move so well and have already made some great friends. God is good!

We LOVE Mrs. Smith, Isabel's teacher and cheer leading coach

Love this little man (who insisted on wearing his OMES shirt!)

Love my sweet cheer leading girl

Will found one huge inflatable with different types of sport activities on each side.  He could have played at this one thing all day and would have been completely happy! At this batting one, he hit the ball into the smallest hole in the inflatable.  I think he loved that the high school kids helping out were impressed.

Of course he had to play basketball for a while too.  As I was warning him that the goals seemed really high and he may not be able to make a basket, the ball went in.  What do I know?

After talking about the dunking booth for weeks, Will finally got his chance.  He dunked the guy with the first ball he threw!! It was hilarious because Will immediately looked at us with a look of excitement, shock and a little bit of worry that he did something wrong by making the guy fall in the water.

just a little bit excited!

Isabel almost dunked the guy too! I think she hit the right spot but just not quite hard enough

The Fall Fun Fest had tons of craft stations set up, cake walks, balloon animals, tons of inflatables, a hay ride, tons of games, Chick-fil-A and so much more.  It was pretty impressive and the kids loved every bit of it.  I'm so thankful for this school and for fun family days!

Loving the Weather!

I. Love, This, Weather.  It has felt amazing here for weeks and we are loving it.  We spend so much more time outside right now and we are all thankful for that!  One day I was playing with my camera while the kids were playing.  I have been looking at old pictures of my kids recently and realized how thankful I am for each picture I have of those sweet faces.  I am definitely no photographer but will take advantage of any chance I get to take their picture.  They are growing up too fast and their sweet baby faces are almost completely gone!

This girl is always up for a photo shoot.  Her personality shines through in these pictures.

someday soon those teeth will be covered with braces but for now I'll enjoy that snaggle-tooth smile

trying to look so sweet and innocent!

My beautiful brown-eyed girl

Will, as usual, was way too busy working to take a picture!

Luckily he had a take a water break and was willing to smile for a quick picture

before he was back to doing what is really important! :)

I love that sweet smile!

Proud of my little man

It seems like every day something happens that reminds me that Will is growing up way too fast.  I am so proud of my little guy!  I had a conference with his teacher yesterday and she had so many good things to say about Will.  First of all, Josh and I are obviously proud of how well he is doing academically.  Like his sister, Will loves to school and loves to learn.  I'm so thankful that God has given both of my children the ability to learn quickly.  Will's teacher told me that he knows all of his letters and sounds and is reading on an advanced letter.  (If only I could get him to make all of his letters and numbers face the right direction!!)  He is catching on quickly to math concepts and loves trying to sound out and spell words and sentences on his own.  He is a smart little guy and is working hard.

As proud as we are about his academic success, we are even more proud of the way his teacher complimented his character.  Although he can still be easily frustrated or angry at home and still has a tantrum from time to time when told no, he is apparently saving all of this for us.  His teacher said that he is a great kid at school and that she depends on him to be a great leader in their classroom.  She even specified that he is a "good leader" and not just bossy.  Ha ha!  She said that Will is nice to his friends and well-liked by all of his classmates.  My eyes may have filled with tears when she told me  how sweet Will is to a little girl in their class with some special needs.  Will talks to us about her all of the time.  He worries about her when she isn't doing well and is so proud of her accomplishments.  His teacher explained that Will and many other kids in his class are very protective of her and so great with her.  I pray his kindness and acceptance of others different from himself continues for the rest of his life!

My little man is growing up and although it is hard on mama, I'm so proud of him.

Plus he had to go and lose his second tooth last night!!  Slow down time!

Fall Fun!

This weekend it FINALLY felt like Fall so of course that meant it was time to head to a pumpkin patch.  I'll admit that at first I was a little sad that we couldn't go to the pumpkin patches in Hendersonville that we have been going to for the past few years but there are plenty of great places to go in Birmingham so I got over it pretty quickly.

Before going to the farm on Saturday, we got to meet some friends from Hendersonville for lunch who were driving through Birmingham on the way to the beach.  It was so good to see friends, catch up on what is going on with everyone and let the kids play together.  I'm so thankful we moved in between Hendersonville and the beach!!

After lunch we picked up Nana and headed to Old Baker's Farm.  We had a great afternoon!  There was a corn maze, tons of animals, haystacks to climb, cotton to play in, a hayride and of course pumpkins!

Gotta have the corn maze picture

my kids were amazed that there was actually corn growing in the corn maze! :)

This place will be selling Christmas trees very soon!

Will already picked out the tree he wants.  ha!!

My sweet girl is growing up so fast

I love this handsome little man!

climbing fun!

a miracle that I got him to stop for a second to pose for a picture

There was a huge cage full of cotton that the kids played in for so long.  It was like playing in snow!

Hayride to the pumpkin patch

Will had to find one that was just the right size for him

Isabel wanted a flat one!

I absolutely love these fun days with my family!  The perfect fall weather just made it that much better!
