Thanksgiving 2012

As is our tradition, we headed to Birmingham again this year for Thanksgiving and had a great time.  There is so much to be thankful for.  I am so incredibly thankful for my family.  I am thankful that I get to be married to my best friend and that I actually enjoy the 4 hours in the car because I get to have real conversations with him.  I am thankful for 2 precious, happy, healthy children and I am thankful that car rides with them just keep getting easier.  I am thankful that we can travel to one city and see so many of our family members and I am thankful for each one of them.  I am thankful for my camera and my camera on my phone so I have pictures to remind me of so many good times.

I love this sweet girl.... and her crazy brother being crazy in the background

I am thankful that these 2 love each other even though they can fight like crazy.  They share a room when we are in Birmingham and love it so much! I love their conversations and pray they will only get closer as they get older.

Thankful these two keep me laughing

I am so thankful for Nana and Grams (even though I didn't take a picture of her).  They love our kids so much and really enjoy spending time with them.  Josh's mom made us a great Thanksgiving meal (twice) and my mom let us invade her house and got up with the kids every morning so Josh and I could sleep in a little!!
I am so thankful for old toys that are new to my kids.  We found my old barbies in my mom's attic and Isabel was so excited.  She played with them for so long and I loved watching her.

Will was amazed that there were boy barbies too.  He was especially excited about the football player barbie that was my mom's when she was a little girl.

I am thankful that we got to see Papa and enjoy a nice Cracker Barrel breakfast with him!

I am so thankful for Matt, Lauren and my sweet nieces. Isabel and Will love playing with their cousins so much.  The 4 of them are a constant source of entertainment.

I am so thankful that we get to add a new baby to this crazy bunch soon.  I will have a new niece or nephew in April.  Will wants a boy cousin desperately!!

I am thankful that we all got to enjoy an Alabama win on Saturday!  There was a time when my mom and I were the only Alabama fans in this family.  So thankful to have others to cheer with now and of course we are all raising our children right! :)  Roll Tide!!

I love this picture. How can you not laugh when you look at it?

The men are definitely a little outnumbered!

God has blessed our family in so many ways and I take these blessings for granted way too often!  I am so thankful for all He has done in my life!!

4 years with Will

Somehow my baby turned 4.  I have no idea how that happened.  He told me the other day that he is not a baby anymore because he is a big boy now but we can still cuddle on the couch.  Love that boy so much!

Will is:

loves all things sports
hates wearing pants because he thinks he cannot play sports as well in them
will only wear athletic pants when he must wear pants
has a new obsession with superheros
has never actually seen a superhero movie
can go from happiest kid in the world to screaming mad in .2 seconds
loves to break dance
loves school
always follows the rules at school....not always the case at home
can count to 100 (with a little help on the 20,30,40 etc)
writes his name well and some letters
has finally learned to play by himself now that Isabel is at school all day
usually plays in his bed at least 30min every night before falling asleep
has an amazing imagination
currently one of his favorite toys is a plain rectangular wooden block
that block can be anything
sweet boy who loves to cuddle
loves to point out the obvious
sings all the time
drives his sister crazy but loves her so much
still allergic to milk and peanuts
makes us laugh

4 year old stats:
38 pounds (a little under 75th percentile)

Party like a 4 year old!

Last night we celebrated Will's 4th birthday with a fun party at Monkey Joe's (a big indoor play area with bounce houses, slides and games).  There could not have been a more perfect party for our crazy little man.  He had so much fun running around with his friends, bouncing and sliding and wrestling.

After counting down to his party for weeks, Will was so excited that it was finally party time!
there was a time when I was allowed to pick out a sweet birthday outfit for my little boy.  apparently those times are over.  All he wanted was to wear "slicky pants" and his alabama shirt.  Oh well, at least it wasn't shorts.....

Letting his sister share the cool birthday throne!

So glad Nana and Grams could make it to celebrate with us

This place has a ton of huge bounce houses and slides but Will's favorite place to play was a big space with blow-up animals and boats in it meant for little kids.  Will and his friends feel like it is their own personal wrestling mat.  I am constantly afraid they are going to hurt each other but other than a few bumped heads, they have huge smiles on their faces the whole time.  I'm not sure I will ever truly get used to boys!! :)

Will and his buddy Aidan

Isabel was very excited that one of Will's friends has a sister that is her age.  They were inseparable all night!

After an hour of jumping the kids were more than ready for some juice, pizza and cake!!

Monkey Joe came to visit!!

Will LOVED his cake!!

Happy birthday to you....

Blowing out 4 candles!!

Will loved every single one of his gifts. He took plenty to bed with him that night to play with before falling asleep

There was time for a little more jumping and sliding before it was time to go.

It was a great night!!  I am so thankful for friends and family that came to celebrate my little man with us!  He loved his party and had so much fun!!

kindergarten update...

Because I don't want to be that mom I usually only take pictures with my phone when I am helping in Isabel's classroom instead of using my real camera.  Unfortunately that means that the pictures are not great and don't always get put on the blog so this post will serve as an update for the last few months of school.

First of all, she still loves school!!  She loves her teacher, has made many friends with some sweet girls in her class and is learning so so much!  She is constantly being rewarded for good behavior and gets many "jobs" from her teacher because she knows that Isabel is responsible enough to handle them.  I am amazed at how well she can already read and write.  In fact, she has started spelling out words or sentences instead of just saying them.  This morning she said, "m-o-m-m-y-I-a-m-t-i-r-e-d" and she when she needs Josh or me she spells out our names instead of just calling us.  She also loves the "related arts" classes they go to.  I honestly never really thought about those aspects of school and learning and I'm constantly impressed as she "teaches" me about texture, collages, music notes, etc.  I am very proud of our little girl and love any chance I get to help out in her classroom.  Josh and I also eat lunch with her pretty regularly which is always fun.  She gets to pick a friend to sit with us so we have really gotten to know a lot of her friends.  Plus I love the thought Isabel puts in to deciding who to choose.  It makes me a proud mommy when she picks a little girl who has never gotten to sit at the special table even though she may not be her best friend because she knows it will make her happy.

Isabel and her class at the Bulldog Walk.  The kids raised money by getting people to sponsor them and then walking as many laps as they could in an hour.  They worked hard and did a great job!

While waiting to eat lunch with Isabel one day I saw this on the wall.  I am so proud of this girl and her sweet heart!

Isabel has been telling us facts about the Pilgrims, Indians and first Thanksgiving for weeks.  Today Josh, Will and I got to have a Thanksgiving Feast with her (that consisted of the pbj, grapes and yogurt she brought from home because she refuses to buy her lunch)
I am so thankful that Isabel is loving school.  I am thankful that she is exactly where God knew she needed to be!  I am so proud of my little girl.
