It's Halloween!!

After multiple pre-Halloween celebrations at school and dance, Isabel and Will were ready for the real thing!!  It was a very cold night but we still had lots of fun and got plenty of candy!!

Superman and my sweet zebra
(Will could not understand why people kept saying things about how he could fly.  He kept saying, "umm I really can't fly. I promise!"  I love how literal they can be!)

superman is ready to fight some bad guys!

My sassy zebra
(who does not care a thing about zebras. she simply liked the outfit)
We started off the night going to the trunk-or-treat at our church and had so much fun!

Isabel and Will with one of the students in our youth group. I love how much these teenagers love my kids and how much my kids love them!!

Josh worked hard putting together the event and did a great job!

The kids made funny pumpkin faces...

warmed up by the fire...

and ate yummy cupcakes and candy!

After church, we did some trick-or-treating in our neighborhood but I had my hands full with these two and didn't get a chance to take any pictures.  When we got home, they were super excited about their loot.  Will thought these vampire teeth were hilarious!

pumpkin carving

After picking the perfect pumpkins, it was time to carve them (and by that I mean pick out a really fun pattern and watch daddy do all the work).

Isabel remembered carving pumpkins last year but the more we talked about it, the more I realized that Will remembered nothing and had no idea what we were about to do.  When Josh first took the top off the first pumpkin and we told Will to put his hand in.....this was his reaction.  Yes, sympathetic mother that I am, I took a picture and laughed at first.
I'm not sure what he was worried about but fortunately he got over it really quickly

Isabel was willing to stick her hand in one time.  This is how she felt about having "pumpkin guts" on her hands!

It is always more fun to just play with the insides after daddy did all the work of getting it out.

Isabel and Will found a crayon in with the pumpkin carving tools and wanted to write their names on a different pumpkin

Pumpkin carving is fun for about 5 minutes when you are 3 and 5.  Then they got bored watching daddy work so they decided to swing for a while instead.

The finished products: superman and zebra pumpkins

pretty all lit up

looking back...pumpkin patch pictures

Since we have been to the same pumpkin patch for the past 4 years, it is fun to look back at how much my kids have grown over the years....

pumpkin patch

We made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch to pick out two perfect pumpkins.  There are pumpkins everywhere and it is a tough decision!!  After running around the pumpkin patch for a while, I think we finally found two great ones.  Now it is time to get carving!
There are times when I cannot convince my kids to stop for a picture no matter what I try.  However, other times they are constantly posing and telling me to take their picture.  Today was one of those days and I was happy to get some good shots!

You can't tell but Will is wearing shorts in these pictures.  He still refuses to wear pants....
You gotta have the right jewelry for the pumpkin patch!

Samford Homecoming

Our main reason for heading to Birmingham last weekend was for Samford's homecoming. As hard as it is believe, it was actually our 10 year reunion. I'm still not sure how we are that old but anyway.....We had a great day at Samford showing the kids around and catching up with old friends.
Gotta have a picture of the kids in front of one of the fountains

group shots with 6 kids ages 5 and younger are not easy (and we were even missing 3)
Attempt #2

Josh got to show the kids around Beeson

I loved getting to catch up with sweet friends
don't you love the wind-blown look?
We had to take a trip back to our sorority house and show the kids were we lived and made so many amazing memories..
Will decided he would rather ride on the lion
my sweet little ADPi legacy :)

I LOVED my 4 years at Samford.  I met my husband there, grew in my relationship with God and began friendships that will last a lifetime (especially if we are successful in our plan of arranged marriages between our kids!!) :)

Fall Break in Birmingham

I. love. fall. break! Before Isabel started kindergarten, school breaks really didn't mean anything to me.  This year, however, I am loving every break we get!  Fall break means not having to drag Isabel out of the bed in the mornings, not having to rush around to get her to school, not having to sit in carpool line, and getting more time with my girl.  This year Josh is taking a couple of days off so it is even better!!  To celebrate fall break, we headed to Birmingham for a fun long weekend.
My mom's neighbors' had a new tree swing.  Isabel was not sure about it at first...
..but in no time she decided it was the best thing ever!

Our first night there I got to enjoy a 3+ hour dinner with 3 of my best friends from college that I had not seen in way too long.  Josh and his brother went out for a boys night too so that left my mom and Josh's mom with the 4 cousins and they took some pictures to document the fun.  I'm pretty sure they were exhausted by the end of the night!
Will and Ansley
This picture is hilarious to me. Isabel and Avery are posing perfectly but who knows what Will and Ansley are doing.

Isabel loves playing on the computer at Grams' house because Grams lets her print every masterpiece she creates! (I'm sure we owe Grams a new printer cartridge)
The weather was perfect all weekend so we spent some time at a playground near Nana's house

Sweet siblings

me with my little man

Isabel and Avery were willing to stop and smile
These 4 love each other so much!
