Happy Thanksgiving

This year we packed up and headed to Birmingham for Thanksgiving. It was great! I have to say that I am definitely thankful for how much easier the car ride is this year compared to last year! We did a lot of eating, playing, shopping, relaxing, and of course, more eating. We may have watched some football but no need to dwell on that! It was a wonderful holiday and we definitely have so much to be thankful for!
Once again another lovely picture of Josh and his brother carving the turkey
Isabel wanted to help Nana cook EVERYTHING this weekend

Will didn't care much about cooking. He just decided he would stand around and look cute

our holiday also involved a lot of chasing the poor cats by two lively kids! In this picture Isabel is listening to hear if Milo is purring to see if he is happy Will requested to have his picture made by the snowmen (yes, I know he needs another haircut but I haven't recovered from the last one so I'm not racing to make an appointment right now) Uncle Matt and Aunt Lauren gave Will a Cars sleeping bag for his birthday. At first he had no idea what to do with it ...but he and Isabel quickly figured it out and loved it! seriously, how cute is this kid? just a swingin'... I'm so thankful for my family swinging with Nana Will loved filling this dump truck up with leaves and acorns

the fire station in Alabaster puts out little wooden fire trucks, helicopters, trains, cars, etc for kids to play on. Of course Will had to be a fireman
We had such a great Thanksgiving this year. God has blessed me with so much and it is hard to even express how thankful I am. Now I just need to make sure I remember all I have to be thankful for each and every day instead of just one day a year!

shutterfly

Are you ready for Christmas cards?? I can't believe it is already that time of year. I have to say that Christmas cards are one of my favorite parts of this season and my very favorite are the picture cards. I love seeing the family photos although getting one of my kids causes me serious stress! For the past few years we have been using the photo Christmas cards from shutterfly. I have always been very happy with them and this year they have even more options to chose from. The greatest part is that this year I will get some of my cards for free because of this great promotion they have going on for bloggers. If you don't know about shutterfly, you should definitely go check it out. I put all of my pictures on there and share them with my family. They also have great gift ideas. I make calendars every year and give them to the grandparents. What grandparent doesn't want 12 months of cute pictures of their grandchildren? They also have personalized mugs and other things with pictures on them that would make great Christmas gifts. Ok, hurry and get those Christmas cards ready to send. Make sure you send us one!! :)

Party!! Party!!

We had a little birthday party for Will in the gym at our church....his favorite place on earth! He had so much fun and never stopped moving except to eat dinner and a few bites of a cupcake. We are thankful for our friends and family that were able to come celebrate with us and so thankful for our precious little boy. Of course the cupcakes had to have sport candles! happy boy driving his car
Isabel is all about riding her "bike" right now and spent 80% of the night on it
Will thinks that these guys from the youth group are his best friends. He loves talking to them and trying to play basketball with them. I'm so thankful that they seem to love him too and give him the attention he wants from them. Of course they had to be at the party! :)
Isabel and Papa
Will and Grams
Nana with the birthday boy
having so much fun!!
of course Will wanted to play basketball with the big boys. He just needed a little help from daddy!
Will and Riley being silly
blowing out his football candle
I love how all the kids needed to help with the presents
Will got a tee ball set that we had to try out immediately.
Isabel had to try it out too
daddy needed his turn too!
I love this little boy!
Family photo time!! Happy 2nd Birthday William! We love you so much!!

Happy 2nd Birthday Will!

We had a wonderful day celebrating Will full of family, friends, firetrucks, balls, bulldozers, cupcakes and ...lima beans. Yes, my boy loves lima beans and we planned to go to a little restaurant here where he gets them for lunch on Saturday but they were closed. We quickly headed to Cracker Barrel instead and Will asked every person that spoke to him if they had lima beans. Fortunately our waitress brought the poor boy a bowl of lima beans......with our drinks!! He ate every one of them! :)
Will was all about opening presents this year and loved all his new toys
Isabel was excited that she got some things for Will's birthday too!! Usually Isabel is the one who helps me when we are cooking but Will took some time out from his trucks to help us sprinkle two cupcakes. Then he was done. Josh's grandfather made this firetruck for Will. It is AMAZING and Will loves it so much. It is such a special gift and I know he will treasure it forever.
He also made Will this truck that actually has a lever to push that dumps everything out. Again, it is amazing and the kids LOVE it!
I'm not proud of it but Will loves Barney so we couldn't resist getting these for him
Will is all about hats right now. He didn't have one of his own so he walked around all the time with Isabel's girly hats. Now he has one of his own and loves it. He wears it constantly!
Before church this morning.....don't they both look so grown up??
We are so in love with our 2 year old boy! He is all boy but still loves to snuggle with his mama! He is constantly learning new things like singing his ABCs (which Isabel taught him all by herself), counting to 10 and further when he wants to, singing many new songs, and starting to recognize some letters. For a while, when I showed him a W and asked him what it was, he would say, "me!" but now he can tell you it is a W. He is constantly talking and it makes life so much easier now that he can communicate exactly what he needs.
He is still a great sleeper and loves his crib. Isabel was out of her crib by 21 months but I'm thinking I may leave Will in his forever! He LOVES school and playing in the nursery at church. He is definitely a social boy and loves being around people. He loves running and playing any sport with a ball involved. He even loves watching football on TV.
We love our little boy so much and cannot wait to see what this next year will bring!

last day with a 1 year old

So Will turns 2 tomorrow. I'll be honest, I'm having trouble with that. How can my baby boy be TWO? I swear he was just born a few months ago. I can remember this day 2 years ago. After being 3cm dialated for almost a month, I was so relieved that I had actually made it to my scheduled c-section date. Our family was coming into town that day and I didn't have to panic every time I felt a contraction, which was all.the.time. I remember looking at Isabel and worrying about how this new baby would affect her. I had no idea how much she would love him immediately and how much I would love watching them play together and love on each other. I'll admit I was a little hesitant about having a boy because I had no idea how much I would love seeing him throw a baseball, try to dribble a basket ball or tackle his daddy. I also had no idea how much little boys love their mamas! I was terrified about being a mother to two children but I didn't know that the joy would totally outweigh the exhaustion and frustration!
For some reason two is a really big deal to me. Maybe even a bigger deal than turning one. Yes, I know that sounds crazy but it is true! Even though he has been walking since 10 months, I think he is now officially considered a toddler. I mean, no one calls a 2 year old a baby anymore....except me I guess. In fact, Isabel told me the other day that I need to stop calling him baby boy because he is a big boy now. You have no idea how hard it was not to break down into tears at that moment. Instead I calmly informed her that he would ALWAYS be my baby boy just like she would ALWAYS be my baby girl. I don't care how old they get.
I think part of the reason that I'm having such a hard time is because I like this stage we are in. A few months ago I would not have said that. I was wanting to just skip to 4 or 5. Will was throwing tantrums every time I mentioned changing his diaper, getting dressed, getting undressed, eating, not eating, going somewhere, leaving somewhere, etc. It wasn't fun! Fortunately it didn't last too long but then we quickly entered the hitting stage. Seriously, I think the boy spent a record amount of time sitting in time-out and walked around saying, "no hitting. no pushing. not nice! go time out!" all day every day. However, we are past that....well for the most part anyway. I'm not ready for the terrible twos. I'm not ready for potty training. I can see that he is already wanting that independence as he insists on putting on his own pants, getting his cup off the counter by himself and saying "I do it mySELF" a million times a day. However, he is still willing to crawl up in my lap and be my baby boy too.
So for now I will just try to enjoy this stage we are in without worrying about the future. I will try to celebrate his birthday tomorrow without constant tears. I'm so thankful that God gave us this precious baby boy and cannot imagine our lives without him.

I don't want my children to be happy

Interesting title huh? It got my attention too. My friend Kim posted a link to this blog on facebook. I read the initial post, I don't want my children to be happy and LOVED it! Then I went to the best of section of her blog and LOVED so many others posts that I just had to share this with all of you. I love her honesty, her attitude toward parenting, the way she writes and most of her, her obvious love for God and desire to follow Him. Seriously, they are all good but here are some of my favorites...so far! Better Me than You Maternal SATs Two Strong Willed Children Bless my Interruptions

Funnies...

Jenn: Isabel, you are so funny Isabel: nope, I'm hilarious! Jenn: Will, take your finger out of your nose Will: dere somethin in dere Jenn: Well let mommy get a kleenex and I'll get it out Will: no, I use my finger! Will (bringing me a Sports illustrated): mommy, you read this football book me? **this happens multiple times a day! Josh: Isabel, what did you talk about in Sunday school today? Isabel: superheros Josh: oh really? what super hero is in the bible? Isabel: spiderman **I do have to say that although I have no idea where the superhero stuff came from, I'm amazed at how much Isabel is learning in Sunday School. She has memorized bible verses and can tell us many stories from the bible. In fact right after this superhero comment, she then told us the whole story of Shadrack, meshack and abednego. She can also tell us the story of David and Goliath but all the Goliath talk gave her nightmares so we don't discuss that one anymore! :) Will (while watching a football game): Oh Man!!! He no tackle him!! **the funniest part was that the other team had just gotten a first down so although he was just repeating things he had heard it completely made sense!

trick or treat!

We took our snow white and fireman trick-or-treating with some friends in a nearby neighborhood. They were both really into it this year. Isabel knew exactly what to do. She confidently walked up to the houses saying "trick or treat" and Will happily followed saying "trick or treat" too! The only problem we had was when we met up with some friends with older boys who were wearing some scary masks. The kids did not like the masks so they were a little scared the rest of the time and wanted to be carried!
ready to go!

holding hands! Buzz, snow white and a fireman! Isabel and her best friend, Ava when we got home, the kids immediately needed to inspect their candy. Will started sorting his on the ottoman. It was so funny. Can you tell he put all his suckers together, his candy bars together, etc? He is a funny kid
