We had such a wonderful day! We celebrated with my mom, Josh's parents, and Matt, Lauren and Avery.
my sweet boy did not feel good but he is still smiling
This is a terrible picture but it is the only picture of the four of usIsabel and Avery under the tree"vvvrrrrrooooommmm" boxes are always so much fun After a month of having no access to the Christmas tree or presents, Will enjoyed "helping" pass out presents. our moms think our house is freezing so santa got them a snuggie this yearMatt really liked the snuggie too Isabel and Will got so many great new toys. I really hope they like playing with them this much in a month Isabel loves Avery so much!!
Christmas was so much fun this year. Isabel really understood more aspects of Christmas this year and was so excited. She loved everything.......Christmas lights, blow up Santas, snowmen and nativity scenes in yards, Christmas presents, music, and even Santa. She also understood that it was baby Jesus' birthday but that is as far as her understanding of the real meaning of Christmas goes for now. We'll keep working on that. Will enjoyed Christmas this year much more than last year too. He did A LOT more than just sleep this year. I was worried that with the sickness in our house, Christmas would be a little rough this year but it wasn't. Although Will didn't feel 100% he still enjoyed the day with the rest of us. It was such a wonderful time to celebrate the gift of Jesus with our family around us!
our silly little reindeerOn Christmas Eve, we went to a great service at our church. Isabel was so good. She sat in either her Grams' or Nana's lap and just watched and listened. She loved the bells and the candles. I will say that explaining communion to a 2.5 year old is very interesting! :) Will sat quietly for the first 15 minutes (until the graham crackers were gone) and then spent some time running around away from the service. Definitely a little different from a year ago when he slept quietly in his car seat.
Later that night Isabel picked out cookies for Santa. Christmas morning the kids were so excited to see what Santa brought them.... "mommy, I can fix something if you need me to. I have tools now. I'm bob the builder"

In the midst of the fun holiday madness, our family has been suffering from way too many illnesses lately. I feel like every time we go to the doctor to deal with a current illness, we must pick up a new one. In the past 2 months, we have dealt with: croup colds a throat virus milk allergy pink eye (you have no idea how traumatic eye drops are for a 2 year old and her mommy) stomach virus strep throat and of course the never ending teething fun (Will is working on molar #3!!!) Thankfully my kids are troopers and actually don't act too terribly when they are sick. I am just ready for us all to be well. I would appreciate prayers for health for our family. We want to enjoy our family at Christmas and celebrate the birth of Jesus while we are all healthy!! I hope that you are all happy and healthy and ready for Christmas!

Last night at church we ate pizza and made gingerbread houses. It was so much fun! I am so thankful for our church.
Isabel loved making her gingerbread house. I helped with the icing but she decorated it by herself and was so proud of it!please notice the tongue sticking out in concentration

Will's 12 month check up was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. He is getting so big. Here are his stats:
weight: 22 lbs 4oz ---50th percentile
length: 30 in ----5oth percentile
He weighs 3 pounds more than Isabel did at this age but is a half of an inch shorter!
Also, Will is getting 2 bottom molars. Poor kid! I know it hurts but he is a trooper.
Decorating the Christmas tree was so much fun with Isabel this year. She was so into it and I loved telling her stories about each ornament. I think she thought I was a little crazy when I teared up multiple times. :)
"Hey Isabel, show me that ornament so I can take your picture" Isabel was obsessed with putting the star on the top of the Christmas tree. In one of her books, we read about a daddy helping the little girl put the star on the top of the tree so she talked about doing it for days.
We had a great Thanksgiving this year! We have so much to be thankful for. God is so good! Josh preached the Sunday before Thanksgiving about being Thankful every day of the year instead of complaining 364 days a year and then thanking God on Thanksgiving. Definitely a challenge I need to work on this year.
Isabel got a advent calendar from Nana this year. She is so excited about it. I hope it helps her understand when Christmas is coming so she will stop asking every day if it is Christmas.
Decorating the back doors with snowman and Santa stickers
Thanksgiving was definitely a little different with a 1 year old instead of a 1 week old. I'm thankful for sleeping through the night!!
We are so blessed to have such an amazing family. Josh's grandparents and cousin even came into town. We had not seen them since Isabel was only a few months old and were so excited to see them again and introduce them to Will.
carving the turkey is serious business.....
but breaking the wishbone is hilarious (especially when you do it wrong)
Isabel had her first taste of pumpkin pie that her great-grandmother made for her. She loved it!!
