Isabel's first Christmas was wonderful. Everything seems to be a little more exciting when you experience it with a 10 month old. On Christmas Eve we went to the service at our church and Isabel sat with us. She clapped and danced to the music and waved to everyone she saw. We spent Christmas day at our house with all of our family. Isabel loved the bows and wrapping paper almost as much as the toys inside.
On Christmas morning she immediately wanted to play with her new toys and didn't understand why it took her daddy so long to get them out of the packaging. She even tried to help him to make it go faster.
It seems like most of Isabel's new toys make noise....I mean music. While we think this can get a little annoying, she never got tired of dancing.
She got a new chair and plenty of books to read

We gave Isabel an early Christmas present, the Little People Nativity. She loves it! I'm sure she will play with it a little differently as she gets older but right now she thinks it is so much fun to grab the angel off of the top of the manger and throw and/or eat all of the people and animals. Of course, her very favorite thing to do is to carry one in each hand as she crawls around the house. Maybe she has traded in her favorite golf balls for Mary and baby Jesus!
For the past week, Isabel's new favorite game is to "beep beep" everyone's nose. It is so funny. She puts her little finger up in the air which is your cue to lean in so she can touch touch your nose. We are then supposed to say "beep beep" and she laughs and immediately turns to the next person. This can go on for a long time. It can also start at any time, including walking down the aisles at Walmart. Please notice the tongue and serious look on her face. This game requires lots of concentration!

Isabel is 10 months old today. Time is going by so fast. My little baby will be one before I know it! She is able to pull up on more things but really doesn't seem too interested in standing (or walking...thank goodness). She stands up and then almost immediately lets go. She doesn't quite understand that this makes her fall. I guess she will figure this out eventually.
This past month she has fallen in love with eating and books. She is all about feeding herself now. As soon as she sees Josh or me with food, she will freak out until we give her some. She has also learned the sign for "more" which she starts doing as soon as the food is out of her hands (although it may stay in her mouth for quite a while). Her other new love is reading. She will just sit in my lap and let me read to her or sit in the floor and "read" by herself. She loves all books but especially those that she can touch (Pat the bunny) or pop up books.
My Aunt Sandra sent Isabel some early Christmas goodies. One thing is this bear that lights up and plays Jingle Bells. Isabel loves it. She holds it and dances the whole time it sings. It is so funny to watch. She also sent her this Santa baby bib and some other holiday bibs. So cute! Thanks Aunt Sandra...we love you!

Christmas is going to be interesting this year and so much fun. Isabel loves the Christmas decorations. When she sees our tree (or any Christmas tree) she says "oooooo" and gets so excited. Fortunately when she is crawling around on the floor, she doesn't really bother it which is nice. Presents are a different story though. She is all about ripping those open so I guess we won't be keeping the presents under the tree until they are ready to be opened!
Yes, this is baby Jesus. She kept shaking him, wanting him to rattle. I guess it will be a few years before she understands the real meaning of Christmas!
I had heard the horror stories about the difficulty of getting a good picture for a Christmas card but I feel like I still was not warned of the true impossibility of this task. How hard can it be with just one little girl?? VERY HARD! As soon as we sat Isabel down in front of the tree, she would immediately start crawling towards us. Yes, she was smiling but not really the pose we were going for. When we handed her a "prop" she happily played with it but never looked up at the camera. When we tried to put a cute little santa hat on her head, she ripped it off before I could get the camera to my face. Fortunately, we eventually got a few cute pictures that you will see on our Christmas card but these are a few that won't make it but we will keep to remember this "fun" experience!!
Why look at the camera when I could play with this cool hat instead?
This is what happens when she waves at the camera.
She loved this little reindeer!!
Ok, so I think this one actually is pretty cute but we didn't put it on the card.
