We tried to take this picture multiple times and Isabel refused to actually look at the camera every time so this is the best we can do. Again, she did not care that it was my birthday and I wanted a cute picture of the three of us.

We celebrated my 27th birthday this weekend. I learned quickly that birthdays are a little different when you are a mom. Isabel did not care that I asked her to sleep all night and not wake up until after 8am on my birthday. Instead, she woke up earlier than usual but luckily I have a sweet husband who got up with her so I could sleep a little more. Also, now that I have actually had a baby, I realized that the person that should be celebrated on your birthday, is actually your mom. I had very little to do with my being born. It was my mom that worked hard so she should be celebrated on the anniversary of that day. I have heard the story all my life but it means a little more now. She was pregnant during the hottest summer ever (although my now pregnant friends will be quick to remind us that 2007 is now breaking the records made in 1980). She was 10 days late and spent a great deal of time walking in the heat to try to go into labor. When she finally did go in to labor, it lasted 16 exhausting hours!! Apparently Isabel and I have that in common. Neither of us was in a hurry to come into this world. Anyway, thanks mom. I love you!

In the past couple of weeks, Isabel has learned new tricks. She can now sit up by herself for longer periods of time. She sits unsupported until she sees something she wants and then just throws herself at it.
She has also mastered the "army crawl." She doesn't get up on her hands and knees. I don't know if you can tell from the pictures but she basically pushes with her feet and pulls with her arms. It is funny to watch. It may not be official "crawling" but she can get where she wants quickly!! We are beginning to see how life changes with a mobile child. Forget her toys, her favorite things to play with are PlayStation cords, phones, remotes, and the fire place!!

I can't believe my little baby is 6 months old! Everyone said that time would fly by and they were right. She now weighs 16 lb 2oz and is 27.5 inches. She is still long and skinny. She loves to lay on her tummy and play and is getting close to crawling. She doesn't really get up on her hands and knees but can scoot herself forwards, backwards and in a circle. She is usually a happy baby and loves to laugh and squeal. For her 6 month "1/2 birthday" she got to see her Nana, Papa, Grams, Uncle Matt and Aunt Lauren. Who knew you got gifts for a half birthday? Josh and I are already scared of what will happen on her 1st birthday!! She is a loved little girl!
